update
its been way too long sınce i last wrote on my blog, i had way too much to write about and so i put it off for a while. basically i went home for a long xmas vacation, from kabul to dubaı, then cairo, rome, boston, and finally dc to see all my friends down there. i met up with my partner in crime, mr james newbold, and the aiesec house hosted the craziest high society party with like 8 generations of former DC chapter presidents there. i met up with tons of long lost friends and it was pretty refreshing after 6 months of being away (thats the longest id been away ever). Then i went back up to New Hampshire to be with the family and other important stuff, and now im in İstanbul on my way back to kabul. i got up at the ass-crack of dawn to take a bus from NH to Boston then to NYC and but the flıght from jfk was direct to istanbul so that was sweet. now im ridiculously jetlagged cause i didnt get any sleep the night before when i was packing, so im here in the aiesec turkey office chillin out with some peeps. anyways, ill be here till monday night, so im just relaxin now and gonna get a good night sleep tonight. when i got to Taksim Square, i felt like the biggest tourist douchebag in the world, with my guidebook, annoying luggage, and the look of a guy who just did a big kaka in his pants, yah i was that utterly confused. i was so tired and groggy that i just couldnt figure out which streets were which, cause there are like 6 different intersecting streets, good thing i eventually this nice turkish woman came up to me and asked me "do you need some help finding your way?". thank god, it ended up being super easy but she was going the same way i was so she brought me part of the way to my meeting point with stella, a bulgarian aiesecer whos working for aiesec turkey and eventually found me on the street nearby the office.
istanbul seems a very cool place, i cant wait to go out exploring tonight and tomorrow. flying in and driving from the airport made evident the huge im-port-ance of istanbul as a port...(go ahead, laugh) there were tons and tons of freighters i saw all over the place, i think i remember my geography teacher mentioning its importance once or twice. however, i realy dont like the keyboards here in turkey already cause its kında difficult to type with.
it was wierd cause this was the first time i was really sad to leave the US, mostly cause i have been moving around so much in the last half year and it takes its toll on a nh boy. actually, i remember being freaked out at the airport before leaving to go to mexico my first time, its pretty hilarious to look back on that now. i also remember leaving for egypt feeling like i was about to go to the planet mars or something, i actually brought twinkees and ho hos for my cultural presentation but when i got there, i went to one of like a million kiosks in the city and found that they all sell freakin twinkees and ho hos!!! anyways, its cool though cause i am ready for what im calling "afghanistan, part deux", i really have a chance to learn a lot more since im pretty much adjusted to life there and i know what to do, plus im totally rejuvinated and ready to go. hopefully there will be some pomegranates left when i arrive. monday night i go to dubai and then wed morning at 6am i fly to kabul.

bro, i can see what you're saying about being in TAKSIM, as i've been in the same situation in the last summer, and again i was with Stella and she showed me the way over there...it's a bizarre over there, isn't it?!
Enjoy your time in Est-am-bol!!
